If you ever find yourself in Guildford, UK, be sure to check out the life-size bronze statue of Alice Through the Looking Glass located at Guildford Castle. Sculpted by Jeanne Argent and installed in 1990, the statue serves as a commemoration of Carroll’s connection to the town. In fact, the author often visited Guildford and stayed at “The Chestnuts” on nearby Castle Hill. He is even buried in Mount Cemetery just outside the town.

The whimsical statue portrays Alice attempting to climb through the looking glass, complete with her long hair hanging down and her dress billowing behind her. The statue is located in Alice’s Garden, a peaceful clearing beyond the bowling green on the eastern side of Guildford Castle. Here, visitors can sit and take in the views of the castle and the surrounding countryside.
